Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 7, 2022 02:35 PM
From: Senator Steven J. Santarsiero and Sen. Wayne D. Fontana
To: All Senate members
Subject: Recognizing April 2022 as "Limb Loss Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania

Each day, more than 500 Americans lose a limb, adding up to more than 180,000 amputations each year. Nationwide, nearly 2 million Americans are amputees.

Limb loss affects every generation, from young to old and people from all walks of life. With these individuals in mind, it is imperative that we raise public awareness about limb loss education and provide an opportunity for individuals to discuss quality of life and other issues they face with the public, legislators and the media. Therefore, we plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the month of April 2022 as “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.

Individuals afflicted with limb loss must overcome many hurdles. With your support, we will dedicate the month of April to increase the knowledge needed to enable amputees to live full and productive lives and to increase awareness about limb loss prevention.

Thank you in advance for your support.
