Subject: Ending Cost of Living Pay Raise for Legislators, Judges, and Executive Officials
 
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to amend the state law that ties the salary raises of public officials to the year-over-year change in the consumer price index.

The governor, cabinet members, statewide elected officers, judges, and members of the General Assembly will all be receiving a 5.6% salary increase this year.

This kind of taxpayer-funded pay raise cannot be allowed to happen in the future. Many of the men and women in our commonwealth’s workforce do not receive the same type of automatic annual pay raise tied to inflation. As public servants, we should not receive special treatment when it comes to our salary.

My bill will amend the Public Official Compensation Law to end Cost of Living Adjustments indefinitely.
