Subject: | Resolution celebrating WCU's 150th Anniversary |
On September 25, 1871, 100 boarding school students and 30 day students arrived for the first day of classes at West Chester Normal School. Over the next several years West Chester would change its name numerous times until 983, when West Chester State College finally changed its name to West Chester University and became one of the 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Today, WCU has more than 17,700 students in its various undergraduate and graduate programs. WCU is home to the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Ram Marching Band, who have performed in many events including the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Mummers Parade, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The official launch of West Chester University's sesquicentennial is on Friday, September 17, 2021. We hope you will join us in celebrating the history of WCU! |
