|Subject:||September as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month|
|I will soon introduce a resolution declaring September as "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month".
Approximately 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lives. While prostate cancer incidence rates are high, the good news is that approximately 95% of all prostate cancers are detected when the cancer is confined to the prostate, and treatment success rates are high compared with most other types of cancer in the body. This resolution will help raise awareness about the prevalence of this type of cancer in men and acknowledge the importance of raising public awareness concerning prostate cancer.
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
Introduced as SR369
