Subject: | "Catholic Schools Week” in Pennsylvania (January 26 through February 1, 2020) |
Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the week of January 26 through February 1, 2020, as "Catholic Schools Week" in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme is: “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Nationally, more than 2 million students are enrolled in Catholic schools at the elementary and secondary levels. Parents who choose this option repeatedly cite high academic standards, a safe school environment, and values-added education, as the reasons for their choice. Ninety-nine percent of Catholic school students graduate and ninety-seven percent go on to college. Catholic schools instill in our cherished children a strong foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and leadership skills, and are an important part of many Pennsylvania communities. In Pennsylvania, there are more than 141,716 students enrolled in Catholic schools at the elementary and secondary schools; saving our state and local taxpayers more than $2.5 billion each year. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
