Subject: | Mushroom Month |
I will soon introduce a resolution recognizing September as “Mushroom Month” in Pennsylvania. American mushroom farming began on a farm in Chester County, now recognized as the "Mushroom Capital of the World.” Thanks to its 68 mushroom farms, Pennsylvania leads the nation in mushroom production. Pennsylvania growers produced more than 500 million pounds of mushrooms in the last growing season and sales set a record high of $570.48 million. The success of the mushroom industry greatly contributes to the economies of Chester County and this Commonwealth while preserving this Commonwealth’s agricultural traditions and customs. I hope you will join me in sponsoring this resolution. |
