MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 21, 2019 01:42 PM
From: Senator Pam Iovino
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution Recognizing 244th Birthday of the United States Navy

As a proud veteran of the United States Navy, I will be introducing a Concurrent Resolution to proclaim October 13, 2019, as the U. S. Navy’s 244th birthday in Pennsylvania.

The United States Navy has a long and proud history. On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress established a naval force, hoping that a small fleet would be able to offset the uncontested exercise of British sea power. Although the Continental Navy was later dismantled, October 13, 1775, remains the U.S. Navy's official birthday.

From those humble beginnings, the world's most powerful Naval force was born. With thousands of ships and aircraft serving worldwide, the U.S. Navy is a force for good all around the world.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this Concurrent Resolution recognizing October 13, 2019, as the 244th birthday of the U.S. Navy.

Introduced as SR194
