Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 16, 2019 11:27 AM
From: Senator David G. Argall
To: All Senate members
Subject: Recognizing the month of October 2019 as "Chiropractic Health Month" in Pennsylvania

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating October 2019 as Pennsylvania Chiropractic Health Month. The purpose of this resolution is to commemorate the hard work done by Pennsylvania-licensed Doctors of Chiropractic that focus on the whole person in their care approach to pain management and health care.

Over 100 million Americans suffer with chronic pain and an estimated 75 to 85 percent of all Americans will experience some form of back pain during their life time.

From 1999 to 2017, more than 400,000 people have died in this country from overdoses related to prescription opioids. As an alternative to these opioids, which include oxycodone, hydrocodone, Percocet and methadone, chiropractic care is one of the safest nondrug, noninvasive therapies available for effective non-opioid treatment of lower back pain and other musculoskeletal concerns.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution which will raise public awareness that chiropractic care is the primary first-line, non-pharmacologic approach to safely and effectively relieve acute, subacute and chronic pain.
