Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 22, 2019 02:25 PM
From: Senator Bob Mensch and Sen. Andrew E. Dinniman
To: All Senate members
Subject: Designating April 30, 2019, as “Life Sciences Day” in Pennsylvania

As Co-Chairs of the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Caucus, we will be introducing a resolution to designate April 30, 2019, as “Life Sciences Day” in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania is a national leader in the life science industry and home to a cohesive community that unites biotechnology, medical device and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, research institutions and holds significant financial strength.

The life science industry links scientists, entrepreneurs, funding, programs, and policy makers in creating solutions and policies that will grow and sustain the innovation infrastructure; launching new companies and creating jobs that have significant impact to human health globally.

In Pennsylvania, this industry directly employs 112,000 workers, with an economic impact from wages alone totaling $11 billion and total industry annual impact of $88 billion.

To recognize the importance of life sciences in Pennsylvania, we ask that you please join us in designating April 30, 2019, as “Life Sciences Day” in Pennsylvania.
