Subject: Retired research animals for adoption
 
At the request of the U. S. Humane Society, I will be introducing legislation which will allow for dogs and cats used as research animals to be adopted upon completion of the studies that they were participating in. The language is based on legislation already passed in Minnesota, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada and New York and a companion to Rep. Readshaw’s HB 238.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation and give healthy dogs and cats a chance of finding a loving home when they are no longer needed for research.
