Subject: | Silver Star Families Day - May 1st |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating May 1, 2018, as "Silver Star Families Day" in Pennsylvania. Founded in 2004, the Silver Star Families of America's mission is simple - "To remember, honor and assist our wounded, ill, injured and dying from all wars." To make sure we remember the sacrifice of our wounded warriors, the Silver Star Families of America gives out thousands of their distinctive Silver Star banners and flags each year to wounded service members and their families. The Silver Star represents the "Silver Star Shining for Sacrifice." All military personnel who were wounded by enemy action, friendly fire, or contracted a serious illness while serving in a war zone are eligible to receive the Silver Star banner and flag. On May 1st, we should all recommit to caring for those who return to us wounded or ill. Last year, SR 91 was cosponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Aument, Baker, Blake, Boscola, Brewster, Browne, Costa, Dinniman, Eichelberger, Farnese, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hughes, Killion, Martin, Mensch, Rafferty, Reschenthaler, Sabatina, Vogel, White and Yudichak. Please join us in honoring this organization that is doing its utmost to remember those that were injured serving this nation. If you have any questions, please contact Nate Silcox (Sen. Vulakovich) at 717-787-6538. |
