Subject: | Recognizing April 2018 as “Jazz Appreciation Month” |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing April 2018 as “Jazz Appreciation Month” in this Commonwealth. Jazz Appreciation Month or JAM was created in 2002 at the Smithsonian Museum to herald and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz. This year JAM celebrates the relationship between jazz and justice. JAM will not feature a musician this year but instead will highlight producer Norman Granz who is considered “one of the most influential non-musicians in jazz history.” Please join me in recognizing the relationship between jazz and justice by recognizing April as “Jazz Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania. |
Introduced as SR313
