Subject: | Pipeline Safety - Mandatory Study Requirement |
In the very near future, I will be introducing legislation to require pipeline operators to conduct proper studies and investigations of aquifers that may be potentially impacted by pipeline construction. Despite DEP’s approval of a project in my district, the project’s horizontal drilling resulted in aquifer breaching that severely impacted private, residential well water. This breach represents only one of the 60 documented clay-spillage incidents along the length of the project. My legislation will require a pipeline operator to conduct a hydrological investigation of each identified aquifer in each construction zone in all current and future construction zones of pipelines. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you for your consideration. |
