Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 10, 2017 01:03 PM
From: Senator Sharif Street
To: All Senate members
Subject: Special Plates for Veterans of an Ally Foreign Country

In the near future, I intend on introducing legislation which will amend Title 75 (Vehicles) to provide for special registration plates for veterans of an ally foreign country.

It was brought to my attention that many veterans within the Korean and Vietnamese communities in my district where unable to apply for special veteran license plates in Pennsylvania, because they are not veterans of the U.S. military, but rather veterans of allied countries who fought alongside the American military. This legislation creates a category of special license plate to recognize their important contribution.

The fee for the special registration plate will be $20 annually and will be available for cars and trucks with a gross weigh lower than 14,000 pounds.

Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation. If you have questions about this legislation, contact my Policy Director, Micah Mahjoubian at micah@pasenate.com.
