Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 11, 2017 10:36 AM
From: Senator Mario M. Scavello
To: All Senate members
Subject: Motorsports Day in Pennsylvania

In the future, I intend to introduce a resolution recognizing April 24, 2017 as “Motorsports Day in Pennsylvania.”

As you know, Pennsylvania has an extensive and rich history of motorsports of all types. The Commonwealth has benefited economically from the longtime investments of a range of businesses that are involved in the production and engineering of many motorsport vehicles used in racing today.

Pennsylvania is one of two states having the most National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) fans and there are approximately 20 Chapters of Official NASCAR Members Clubs located in this Commonwealth.

In terms of Racetracks, Pennsylvania ranks among the top five states in the country. Pennsylvania is home to Pocono Raceway, the host of one INDYCAR event and two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events, and numerous smaller tracks located throughout the Commonwealth which continue to contribute and hold events for all types of motorsports.

Please join me in recognizing April 24, 2017 as Motorsports Day in Pennsylvania.

If you have any questions regarding this resolution, please contact Christine Zubeck in my office at 717-787-6123 or czubeck@pasen.gov. Thank you for your consideration.
