Subject: | Annual Limitation on Expenditures to the State Police from the Motor License Fund |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation aimed at capping the amount of funding the State Police receive from the Motor License Fund. In the last decade, the amount of funding from the Motor License Fund has increased from $436,623,000 in fiscal year 2005-06 to $676,118,000 in fiscal year 2014-15. The proposed amount in this year's budget is $757,558,000. It is estimated that by fiscal year 2019-20 that amount will be close to $1 billion dollars. This is simply not sustainable. Beginning in fiscal year 2016-17, and each year thereafter, my legislation caps the funding from the Motor License Fund at no more than $500,000,000 for the purpose of the operations of the Pennsylvania State Police. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Josh Myers of my staff at 787-5400 or by email to jmyers@pasenate.com. Thank you for your consideration. |
