Subject: | Resolution Recognizing April as Multiple Birth Awareness Month in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing a resolution recognizing April as Multiple Birth Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. The National Organization of Mothers of Twins and the Fetal Hope Foundation both celebrate April as National Multiple Birth Awareness Month. With over 140,000 multiple births in the United States each year, it is important that we raise awareness of the challenges that these families face. One in eight twins are born pre-term and there are many special issues that parents of multiples face when raising their children. These include fetal syndromes effecting multiples, bonding and parenting challenges, and issues of separation in the classroom. There are support groups throughout the state and raising awareness will help parents and their children find the support and resources they need. If you have questions about this resolution, please contact my Legislative Director, Jon Tew, at jtew@pasenate.com or 610-768-4200. |
