Subject: Digital Asset Protection
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce digital asset protection legislation. As you know the use of technology as it relates to email, social media and other digital communication methods and services is increasing, which has also created a greater need to protect our digital assets in the event of death or impairment. Often, personal representatives may need to access these accounts in order to make decisions whether to terminate or continue these accounts. This access will also allow them to protect the online or digital identity of the represented individual. Similar legislation has been passed in Oklahoma, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Idaho. I invite you to join me in sponsoring this legislation.
