Subject: Student Performance Advisory Commission
 
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce SB 823 of last session. This legislation would create a Student Performance Measurement Advisory Commission.

The Commission will make findings and recommendations to improve the measure of performance in the Commonwealth to more fairly and accurately measure the academic performance of students, schools, school districts and educators.

The 11-member Commission will review the following for their strengths and weaknesses: The PA System of School Assessment, The PA Alternate System of Assessment, The Keystone Exams, The PA Accountability System (including the PA Performance Index), and the PA Value Added Assessment System.
