Subject: Surviving spouse of a veteran tax exemption
 
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation exempting the surviving spouse of a veteran who was killed or declared missing in action from paying local school property taxes.

The State Veteran’s Commission would be the entity to determine that the veteran’s surviving spouse is in need of the exemption.

This is a reintroduction of Senate Bill 646 from the previous legislative session. Co-sponsors included Senators BROWNE, FERLO, KASUNIC, FONTANA, SOLOBAY, BREWSTER AND RAFFERTY.
