Subject: Recognizing October 2014 as Music Therapy Month in Pennsylvania
 
In the near future I will offer a Resolution declaring October 2014 as "Music Therapy Month" in Pennsylvania.

Music therapy is the clinical use of music interventions in a therapeutic relationship. There are more than 41,000 Pennsylvanians who receive music therapy treatment each year. The Commonwealth has nine institutions which offer degrees in music therapy and has more than 400 certified therapists.

Music therapy is part of the health care profession with benefits that span across all developmental domains to support individuals of all ages. According to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), music therapy is an evidence-based treatment option for individuals seeking a therapeutic relationship with a certified professional.

Please join me in declaring October 2014 as "Music Therapy Month" in Pennsylvania by co-sponsoring this Resolution. Thank you for your consideration!
