| Subject: | Advertising on the PA Turnpike |
| In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation to provide the PA Turnpike Commission with the flexibility to allow for more billboards on the PA Turnpike. My intent for this is to help reduce tolls and maintain tolls on the turnpike at as low a rate as possible. The legislation would amend Section 8116 of Title 74 to allow the commission the ability to minimize toll increases by exercising their authority to contract with outside vendors for placing advertising signs that is consistent with existing Federal law. Pennsylvanians are already under a pinch on rising gas costs and increased fees as they travel across the Commonwealth. My bill would give the Turnpike Commission the tools they need in order to keep useage costs down without jeopardizing public safety or improvements. |
