Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 17, 2014 04:17 PM
From: Senator John N. Wozniak
To: All Senate members
Subject: Bridge Naming

In the near future I plan on introducing legislation that would rename the Johns Street Bridge in downtown Johnstown to the Clara Barton Memorial Bridge.

On June 5, 1889, Clara Barton and a group of American Red Cross volunteers came to Johnstown to help the survivors of the devastating South Form Dam break. It was one of the first major disaster responses for the American Red Cross. The organization established feeding stations, built shelters for survivors and rendered medical care. Over five months the Red Cross provided relief to 25,000 people.

This June marks the 125th Anniversary of the Johnstown Flood. Please join me in recognizing the efforts of Clara Barton and the Red Cross.

If you have any questions regarding this bill, please contact Josh Myers of my staff at 787-5400 or by email to jmyers@pasenate.com. Thank you for your consideration.
