Subject: Release of certain child fatality or near fatality report information by the county agency
 
In the near future I plan to introduce legislation that would allow a county agency to publicly release some information contained in the child fatality or near fatality reports.

Act 33 of 2008 created the child fatality or near fatality reports. These reports are conducted by the county to learn if any failures of the system resulted in the death or near death of the child. DPW can release the contents of the report and the report is to be released to the public; however, the county agency, which convened the team, is unable to publicly provide information.

This legislation would correct this to allow a county agency to release the same information that DPW can currently release.
