Subject: | Oaths of Office – School Districts |
My goal as chairman of the Senate Education Committee has been to focus on students and their parents. If education is truly about the child, let’s make it about the child. I will shortly be introducing legislation to bring this focus to school districts by changing the oath of office for school leaders. Under my plan, school board directors, superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, assistant principals, and business managers would be required to take the following oath of office: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, that I will allocate school resources and effect educational policy solely for the purpose of ensuring that each student learns to his or her intellectual capacity, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity." Thank you. |
