Subject: | Child Health Care Coverage |
I plan to introduce legislation to require State Income Tax forms to include a check off box asking Pennsylvanians if their children 18 years of age or younger have health insurance. If they do not have health insurance, this information will be transmitted by the Department of Revenue to the Departments of Insurance (DOI) and Public Welfare (DPW). DOI and DPW will then follow up with parents to try to enroll their children in either CHIP or Medical Assistance. The goal of this legislation is to ensure we get every eligible child enrolled in a health insurance program. Access to affordable insurance will improve their health, their education, and their long term outcomes. |
Introduced as SB1231
