| Subject: | Amend Emergency Vehicle Definition |
| In the near future I will be introducing legislation amending the definition of Emergency Vehicle in Title 75 (Vehicles), to include the privately owned vehicles of sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, coroners and deputy coroners when used in responding to emergency calls. These officials are often called upon to respond to incidents in which emergency support is needed at all hours of the day or night. In an effort to ensure timely response to emergencies for the safety and security of the citizens of this Commonwealth, it is essential that their privately owned vehicles are categorized as “Emergency vehicles” when used in answering emergency calls. The Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association and The Pennsylvania Coroners Association are in support of this legislation. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
