| Subject: | Sales-Tax Exemption for Fire Stations |
| I will soon introduce legislation to exempt volunteer fireman’s organizations from the state sales tax when purchasing materials, supplies and equipment to make physical improvements and repairs to their fire stations. My objective is to reduce the collective burden that our fire companies face by expanding the sales tax exemptions that they already receive. This expansion will include the purchase of materials for physical improvements on their stations and will alleviate a substantial financial hardship. In short, my bill will only apply to volunteer fireman organizations and will allow them to best utilize their donation-and grant-based budgets for physical improvements on their fire stations. |
