|Subject:||65th Anniversary of the Birth of Israel Resolution|
I will soon be introducing a resolution commemorating the 65th anniversary of the birth of Israel.
The Jewish people have endured a long history of invasion, oppression, dislocation, discrimination and genocide. In 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the establishment of an independent Jewish state in Palestine and directed inhabitants of the county to take actions facilitating this resolution.
On May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was established as a sovereign and independent country and the first Jewish state in 2,000 years.
Introduced as SR100
