Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 11, 2013 05:24 PM
From: Senator Jake Corman
To: All Senate members
Subject: Liquor Control Enforcement Jurisdiction

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce Senate Bill 944 of last session. This legislation seeks to allow municipalities with full time police forces, to opt out of Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement jurisdiction.

Under this proposed legislation, municipalities may elect by ordinance to enforce the provisions of the Liquor Code within their local boundaries. This approach allows for more local enforcement strategies, including coordinating activities with other local and state law enforcement deterrence methods and units.

All fines collected through enforcement activity of the municipality shall be payable to that municipality.

If you have any questions with regard to the legislation listed above, please contact Scott Sikorski in my office at 787-1377 or ssikorski@pasen.gov.

Introduced as SB702
