Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 26, 2013 11:12 AM
From: Senator John N. Wozniak
To: All Senate members
Subject: Powers and Duties of the Department of Health

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation requesting the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs be abolished and its powers and duties be transferred to the Department of Health.

There is no reason to have a separate department with its associated administrative costs when its duties can be handled by the Department of Health where it should have been all along.

This bill was introduced last session SB 1536 and was co-sponsored by Senators FONTANA , SOLOBAY , FOLMER , and FERLO.

If you have any questions regarding this bill, please contact Josh Myers of my staff at 787-5400 or by email to jmyers@pasenate.com. Thank you for your consideration.

Introduced as SB942
