Subject: | Memo # 11 - Parental Consent for R Rated Movies in the Classroom |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that requires school districts to obtain consent from parents and guardians before their children view an “R” or “NC-17” rated movie in the class room. My legislation requires that prior to displaying a motion picture, the school district notify and obtain written consent from all parents and guardians of all students enrolled in the class in which the motion picture is to be displayed. If any parent or guardian of a student enrolled in the class in which the motion picture is to be displayed objects or fails to provide written consent, the school district shall not display the motion picture during the current school year. If you have any questions, please contact Gail Reinard at 787-7305. |
