Subject: Confidential License Plate Registration
 
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation from last session (SB 946) to amend Section 1316 of Title 75 of the PA Consolidated Statutes to provide confidential license plate registration upon request for all judges, district justices, district attorneys, law enforcement agencies doing undercover and surveillance work and Commonwealth department secretaries and deputy secretaries.

Information concerning the identity of the registrant can not be released without a written request from a law enforcement agency and approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; or by a court order. Additionally, should such information be released, the registrant will be notified of the identity of the requester by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
