MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 2, 2024 08:43 AM
From: Representative Robert Leadbeter
To: All House members
Subject: Protecting Personal Data from Government and Corporate Overreach

In the digital age, Pennsylvanians face unprecedented threats to their privacy. Both government agencies and private corporations increasingly collect, store, and use sensitive personal data without adequate safeguards.

The Personal Privacy Protection Act will:

  1. Limit the collection and storage of personal data by state and local governments.

  1. Require transparency from businesses regarding how they collect, store, and share consumer data.

  1. Establish penalties for the unauthorized use or sale of personal information.

The Commonwealth Connection:

  1. Privacy is a Right: The government and corporations must not exploit Pennsylvanians' data.

  1. Security: Protecting sensitive information reduces the risk of data breaches and identity theft.

  1. Public Trust: Ensuring privacy fosters confidence in our institutions and businesses.

Together we can ensure that Pennsylvania leads the nation in protecting personal privacy.
