MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 18, 2024 04:18 PM
From: Representative Robert W. Mercuri
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing April 6 through 14, 2024, as “National Robotics Week” in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is a global leader in the robotics industry and home to hundreds of robotic companies. Our state has a rich history involving the field of robotics, with some of the first robots being built in Pennsylvania in the early 20th century. As Pennsylvania’s robotics industry continues to grow, the next generation of roboticists will soon be needed.

National Robotics Week is an annual event that was first designated in 2010 by the United States House of Representatives. Many events are held during the week to commemorate the field of robotics, including industry showcases and robotics competitions. Alongside the events, participating students are taught the importance of the robotics field as well as careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Because of the importance of encouraging the next generation of Pennsylvanian roboticists, I will be introducing a resolution to recognize April 6 through 14, 2024, as “National Robotics Week” in Pennsylvania.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to commemorate this important week, celebrate Pennsylvania’s past, and inspire its future.
