Subject: Transfer of Administrative Jurisdiction for Highway Project
 
Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation to authorize the transfer of administrative jurisdiction of portions of State Park lands in exchange for certain lands in New Vernon Township, Mercer County, from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to the Department of Transportation for anticipated highway improvement projects.

The legislation also provides for the establishment of a list of pre-identified highway projects, or a “land bank”, to be utilized by PennDOT through the purchase of replacement land and its transfer to DCNR. This land bank will create the most efficient and cost-effective way to handle numerous projects.

This legislation will provide a continued balance between ensuring Pennsylvania has the proper roads it needs, while at the same time protecting and preserving our state parks for all to enjoy.
