Subject: Designating September 10th to September 16th as “Direct Support Professionals Week” in Pennsylvania
 
Direct support professionals and support coordinators are crucial in assisting older adults and individuals with intellectual disabilities secure meaningful jobs, find appropriate housing arrangements, learn to navigate public transportation systems, and engage in social activities throughout their communities.  These individuals deserve special recognition for their service to their communities.
 
Therefore, we will be introducing a resolution designating the week of September 10 through September 16, 2023, as “Direct Support Professionals Week” in Pennsylvania.  These direct support professionals deserve a proper thank you for the work they do all year round.  We are proud to offer this resolution recognizing the important work these professionals provide to an important segment of our population.
 
Please join us in recognizing the positive impact direct support professionals have had in our Commonwealth by co-sponsoring this resolution.
