Subject: | Urging Congress to Create a National Infrastructure Bank (Former HR 113) |
In 2022, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave Pennsylvania a cumulative grade of “C-” across 15 categories, including a “C-” for roads, a “D+” for bridges, and a “D” for public transit. We rank 45th in the nation for congestion delays and our drinking water infrastructure needs an additional $10.2 billion in funding over the next decade. We see similar results nationwide as infrastructure continues to age. Solutions are needed to improve our infrastructure. For this reason, we plan to reintroduce a resolution urging Congress to establish a National Infrastructure Bank. This is not a new concept and has been championed by George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and others in our nation’s long and storied history. Similar resolutions have already been passed by many organizations and local governments throughout the country, including Allegheny and Northampton counties; the cities of Pittsburgh, Allentown, Philadelphia, and Lancaster; and the Northern Tier Central Labor Council. Investments from a National Infrastructure Bank would reinvigorate industries, create millions of jobs, and supply the necessary funding to repair our aging infrastructure. Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution.
