Subject: | Beneficial Reuse of Drill Cuttings |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to require the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to allow for the beneficial use of drill cuttings. Currently, Pennsylvania does not allow for the beneficial use of drill cuttings. This increases energy costs, increases the environmental and economic burden of disposal, unnecessarily takes up limited waste disposal capacity, and prevents our business community, including road construction, agricultural, and critical mineral businesses from utilizing drill cuttings as a raw material. Drill cuttings can be utilized safely and in an environmentally sounds manner. My legislation will amend the Solid Waste Management Act to require DEP to allow for this critical economic activity. Please consider joining me in becoming a co-sponsor to this important legislation. |
