MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 3, 2023 01:26 PM
From: Representative Melissa L. Shusterman
To: All House members
Subject: Funding for Family Planning Providers

Abortion is a legitimate, private health care decision. For far too long, Pennsylvania has treated abortion as a procedure to be ashamed of, and not a normal decision to be made between women and pregnant people and their doctors.

I will be introducing a package to allow for funding for this health care procedure by amending the parts of Pennsylvania law that restrict state funding for abortions, and subsequently providing funding to family planning providers, including those that provide abortions.

This package is important for bringing Pennsylvania into the modern age by acknowledging abortion as a safe procedure that women and pregnant people, in consultation with their health care providers, may choose to undergo. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to support reproductive health.
