Subject: | Employee Child Care Public Private Partnership |
The average annual cost of child care in Pennsylvania is $11,482 for an infant and $9,773 for a four year old. Combined, these costs are $21,614 annually, or 31.9% of a typical family’s income. For far too many Pennsylvanians, this makes child care a back breaking expense. We will be introducing legislation modeled on a Kentucky law passed last year that will incentivize employers to fund child care for their employees by splitting the cost with the state, and providing tax credit incentives to employers who participate. This program will be called the Employee Child Care Public Private Partnership. If Pennsylvania is to be the economically vibrant state that we all know it can be, we must incentivize young families to work and stay here. Our bill will do this by drastically cutting the cost of child care for Pennsylvanians. Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to make child care affordable in Pennsylvania. |
