MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 4, 2023 03:56 PM
From: Representative Robert Freeman
To: All House members
Subject: Vehicle Registration

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would amend Title 75 (Vehicles), further providing for additional information on a vehicle registration card.

A City of Easton police officer brought to my attention that in trying to apprehend a suspect, having the model and year of the vehicle, as well as the make, would aid law enforcement in identifying the vehicle they are looking for.

My legislation would ensure that the make, model and year of the vehicle is included as part of the registration information, which would make it easier for law enforcement to narrow down targeted vehicles when they are seeking to apprehend a criminal suspect. Currently, Title 75 requires the registration number assigned to the vehicle, the name and address of the registrant and the name of the owner, if other than the registrant, a description of the vehicle including the vehicle identification number, the expiration date, and any other information as determined by the department.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
