Subject: | Preventing Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace |
The #MeToo and Time’s Up movements have exposed the harassment and discrimination that many of our family members, friends and coworkers experience in the workplace. Shedding light on these issues has been an important step. However, more action needs to be taken if we are going to make our workplaces welcoming to all employees. That is why I am introducing a bill that will require employers in Pennsylvania to adopt written policies and procedures for preventing harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Providing clarity on these issues will result in happier and more productive workplaces. For employers, having these policies and procedures in place can also prevent costly lawsuits. The hardworking sons and daughters of Pennsylvania’s families deserve to work in an environment where they feel valued and safe. Please join me in upholding the safety and productivity of Pennsylvania’s workplaces. (Prior HB 400) |
