MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 3, 2022 12:00 PM

To: All House members
Subject: Jury Duty Exemption for Emergency Services Personnel

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to add an exemption to jury duty for emergency services personnel.

Many of our constituents serve as a volunteer firefighters in relatively small companies, and their absence from that service over a period of days or weeks may seriously compromise the ability of those companies to respond to emergencies.

My legislation would add emergency service personnel who request to be excused to the list of allowable exemptions to jury duty.

I respectfully ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this common sense piece of legislation to ensure continuity of emergency service coverage in our communities.

Introduced as HB433
