Subject:	Celebrating The GIANT Company's 100th Anniversary

Beginning in 1923, The GIANT Company (Giant) was founded by David Javitch as the Carlisle Meat Market. Under the vision of the Javitch family, the Carlisle Meat Market later evolved into Giant Food Stores and then The GIANT Company. As a grocery retailer providing quality necessities for life, Giant serves a critical need in Pennsylvania and several of our neighboring states. With more than 35,000 employees, Giant is a major contributor to our economy. As a local partner, Giant’s collaboration with farmers and businesses puts Pennsylvania products in the hands of millions of consumers. Giant’s success story serves as an inspiration to us all. My resolution recognizes the contributions of The GIANT Company to the commonwealth and congratulates their leaders and employees on their 100th anniversary. I ask that you join me in cosponsoring this resolution.
