Subject: | Prohibiting Cooperation with Out-of-State Criminal Abortion Investigations |
Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, states have discussed legislation and passed laws to criminalize abortion. In certain instances, states are criminalizing abortions that their residents receive within their borders and in other states. These efforts are simultaneously an attack on women’s bodily autonomy and on state sovereignty. Our legislation will prohibit all law enforcement officers, state government departments and their employees, and local government entities and their employees from cooperating with out-of-state investigations into abortions legally obtained in Pennsylvania. This bill is important to ensuring that other states respect our laws and to ensuring that Pennsylvania remains a state where people can receive the health care they need. Please join us in co-sponsoring this vital legislation to defend our state’s sovereignty and ensure Pennsylvania is a safe state for health care. |
