Subject: | Bridge Naming -- John F. Curcio Memorial Bridge |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to honor Clinton County World War II veteran and community role model John F. Curcio, by designating the Renovo Road Bridge over Young Womans Creek as the John F. Curcio Memorial Bridge. John served in the 8th U.S.A.A.F 458th Bomber Group during WWII as a staff sergeant, completing 35 combat missions including the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion at Normandy. For his service, Mr. Curcio was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. After the war, John worked for 37 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was instrumental in placing flags on the Renovo Bridge. Mr. Curcio passed on March 22, 2022, at the age of 96. Please join me in supporting the recognition of one of Clinton County’s finest. |
