MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 31, 2022 03:26 PM
From: Representative Thomas L. Mehaffie, III and Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier
To: All House members
Subject: Establishing the Traffic Signal Modernization Pilot Program

In the near future, Representative Sheryl Delozier and I plan to introduce legislation to establish the Traffic Signal Modernization Pilot Program within the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

Under this legislation, local governments in third- through eighth-class counties would be eligible to apply for grants to install adaptive signal control technology and other traffic signal systems that utilize sensors to monitor traffic flow, vehicle delays and queues. These systems are able to optimize the timing of traffic signals in real time, which will ensure a smoother flow of traffic.

We hope you will join us in cosponsoring this legislation, thank you.

Introduced as HB2550
