Subject: Ending DRBC’s Fracking Ban to Cut Reliance on Russian Oil and Gas

The Delaware River Basin Commission’s (DRBC) decision to ban fracking in the basin territory has been terrible for the landowners in the region, for our business climate in Pennsylvania, and for our average citizens throughout the Commonwealth who are having to pay unnecessarily inflated energy prices.

Additionally, with Russia’s unjustifiable invasion of its neighbor, it has become crystal clear that we most do everything possible to increase our oil and gas production here within Pennsylvania, so our country and our allies around the world do not have to rely on energy produced in countries whose values are different than our own.

The DRBC should not be dictating to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania how we should and should not be extracting our own resources. The stakes are simply too high to allow this indefensible action to stay in place any longer. Because of this, I will soon be introducing legislation which will amend Pennsylvania’s version of the Delaware River Basin Compact to make it clear that it is not within the DRBC’s authority to ban fracking.

Please join me in sponsoring this important and timely legislation.

Introduced as HB2451
