Subject: | Consolidation of Judicial Branch Operations |
Currently, the judicial branch operates court rooms in the City of Pittsburgh, City of Philadelphia, and the City of Harrisburg. In 2009, the taxpayers paid to build a Judicial Center in the City of Harrisburg at a cost of $116 million. Soon, I will introduce legislation to require the judicial branch to consolidate its operations outside of the City of Harrisburg to the Judicial Center. This will reduce costs to the judicial branch and increase efficiencies in Government. Since March of 2020, the Court has been utilizing virtual hearings for its operations, thus verifying the judicial branch can function without branch operations. Please join me in this commonsense reform to reduce costs to taxpayers and increase efficiency in government. |
